After a long battle with cancer, Ferenc passed away peacefully in his sleep in the presence of his youngest son Franz-Joseph at the Ernest Routhier Residence, Montreal, QC, on January 7th, 2012, in his 74th year. Ferenc’s wife Catalina and members of his family were present on his last day to bid him farewell and let him rest in peace in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Ferenc, born in Braso, Transylvania, grew up in Hungary and moved to Canada in 1976 after several years in Germany and other places in Europe working as a lawyer in copyrights. He met his wife in an English class for new immigrants in Toronto, and then settled in Montreal where he and his wife became active in the Hungarian community. He leaves children and grandchildren behind who will miss him dearly.
A funeral ceremony will be held at his family’s community church, Our Lady of Hungary in Montreal, 90 Guizot W, on Friday the 13th of January at 2 o’clock. The service will be followed by a small reception at the church. The family is thankful for all the support they have received from friends and family and also for the devotion shown by the nursing and orderly staff at his residence, who took care of him since his arrival in 2009.
